Welcome to Bayon Pastry School Open Day

Dear students of CMU Tour Guide

Introduction of the project:

Bayon Education & Development is an NGO which has been working for a good education in Cambodia’s for over 20 years. Our mission: provide the children and youth who live in the villages around Angkor temples with education. We currently support about 400 children’s and teenagers’ education, from primary school, located near Bayon temple, to public middle and high schools in Siem Reap, and even sometimes to university or vocational trainings.

Our primary school is located south from Bayon temple, and has been built within Preah Saar pagoda. We welcome 250 students from kindergarten till Grade 6 and provide them with all books and material, 2 uniforms, 1 hygienic kit and 1 meal per day at Elodie’s canteen, 1 bicycle. Since October 2017, we also provide them with a free breakfast every morning.

At the primary school, the children study the official Khmer education program, composed of Khmer language, mathematics, geography, sciences, moral studies and physical sports.

From Grade 2, children follow everyday a 1h English class

We financially support our students who continue their studies in Siem Reap’s public high schools. We provide them with: tuition fees, books and learning materials, 2 uniforms, a bicycle, and a monthly allowance for lunch.

Bayon Education and Development as a second main project, more recent:

In 2014, we opened a pastry school in Siem Reap. This school provides vocational training in pastry to underprivileged women. The rigorous selection process chooses young women based on their motivation and their family’s income level. Pastries are now sold in the school’s coffee shop, and the benefits help finance the school.

The girls are selected, based on motivation, academic records and family environment to study at our Pastry School. The training is free and the students benefit from free housing, lunch and allowance to buy food for their diner. The training lasts 11 months, including 4 months of internship. During those 11 months, they follow different courses: Pastry courses, English, Maths & IT.

What do we suggest?

You are currently studying how to become a tour guide. When you will be graduated you will have plenty of choices in Siem Reap to bring your customer to enjoy a nice break in a coffee shop or bakery.
Bayon Pastry School suggests you to come over our place, discover more about the project, enjoy cakes and drinks with us and let’s see together how we can make a partnership.

As we are an NGO, Bayon Pastry School will not give you any money for bringing customer here. All the profit coming from our cakes and drinks sales, directly goes to finance the pastry training.
However, every time you bring a client to our place, we will offer you something to drink and eat.
We want you to come here for our cause and because you believe in our project as much as we believe in it.

Please let’s have a chat all together to talk about it. We are organizing 2 open days:

• Friday 10th at 9am

• Friday 17th at 9am

We will welcome you to our place and you will have the chance to try our cakes and drinks for free.
